The pallet used in the work alludes to an Early-Renaissance/Late-Gothic colours, used in paintings of that time. They are genuine pigments, handmade. The number of colours is small, nine in total (ten if you count the gold). And the gilding technique used is water gilding, with 23.5ct gold. Some areas were burnished to change the reflective quality of the gold, like a 'mirror'.
The support is a wood panel with layers of gesso - rabbit skin glue and chalk. Many coats are applied and a couple of day it demands to be completely dry. This absorbent surface is ideal for the egg tempera technique, consisting in the yolk of the egg mixed with vinegar (the recipe may change according to the artist's preferences - that certainly makes the technique fascinating and unique!)
